Notary Services
We offer a comprehensive range of notarial services to both private individuals and firms, particularly for matters involving foreign jurisdictions. In the common law tradition, a Notary Public is a public officer authorized to handle legal matters that fall outside standard office jurisdiction, including:
Foreign estates and inheritance
Deeds, gifts, and donations
Powers of attorney
International property and business transactions
Our Senior Director is among the select senior solicitors in Northern Ireland appointed as a Notary Public by the Lord Chief Justice, ensuring clients have access to properly notarised documents for use abroad.
A Notary Public is empowered to:
Administer oaths
Witness signatures
Authenticate documents
Take sworn affidavits
Take affirmations and declarations
Issue notarial certificates verifying documents and individuals
Most notarial work is intended for use in foreign jurisdictions, where documents must meet specific legal standards. Please note that a Notary Public in Northern Ireland does not provide legal advice regarding foreign legal systems.
An Apostille is an official certificate issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin or the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London. It verifies the signature and/or seal of a public officer—such as a Notary Public—and their authority.
Some countries also require further legalisation, such as embassy or consulate verification (e.g., for documents being sent to China).
We handle the entire process for you, from notarisation to apostille and legalisation, ensuring your documents meet the necessary international requirements.
